Updating HV equipment and Control system of 132 kV switchyard from conventional control system to the new Siemens DCS
Toloue Energy Company with a new DCS system with added layers of control and protection replaced the conventional control system of the 132kV Switchyard of Najaf in Iraq. In order to provide such a service, a new control room was also manufactured and installed with the view to install the newly designed and procured protection and control panels for all the thirteen bays of the switchyard in this building. Also, as part of the project, the old devices which cannot be replaced were taken out of the old panels and implemented and installed in the newly provided panels. The entire DCS system was procured from Siemens.
In addition, the old switchyard equipment were replaced with new parts and the foundation and structures of this equipment were repaired and replaced where needed. Also as part of the project, the trenches of the switchyard were repaired.
Extension of the Shuiba Gas Power Plant Substation with a New Transformer Feeder and Segregation of the Two Units Outgoing Feede
The Shuiba Power Station in Iraq consisted of two GE-Frame5 gas units that operated via a single transformer. In order to improve the durability of service; it was decided to add another transformer to allow each unit to operate independently from the other unit. In due course, Toloue Energy installed a new step-up transformer next to the old transformer and the necessary components for this transformer to be connected to grid were designed, procured and installed in the substation (i.e. Disconnecting Switch, Circuit Breaker, Current Transformer, Capacitive Voltage Transformer and Surge Arrester). On the Generator side, the copper bars connecting the two units to a single transformer were segregated to allow each unit to be separately connected to its own individual transformer. In addition, the control and protection settings and arrangement of the two units were updated in order to allow the new design to work properly.
